Rubio Says There Are No High Expectations From Moscow-Kiev Talks

In his opinion, the only possibility to resolve the situation is a personal meeting between Putin and Trump.

The United States does not hold out much hope for talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, Reuters reports.

He believes the only way to resolve the situation is a face-to-face meeting between Putin and Trump.

"I don't think we're going to have a breakthrough on this issue until the president [U.S. President Donald Trump] and President Putin directly discuss the subject," the secretary of state said.

Rubil intends to meet with a Ukrainian delegation and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul on May 16.
